Welcome to Primitive Call (shortened to PmC). We are a work in progress MORPG (multiplayer online roleplaying game). In Primitive Call, you will take on the role of a wolf in a natural, northern-nature setting. There will be several different sorts of terrain in which you, as a wolf, can take up for territory. Target your choice of prey from various different animals and different levels of hunting difficulty. And have fun with your fellow members in your own pack!
CURRENT STATUS: Work in progress.
No definitive release date.
CURRENT OBJECTIVE: Version 4

Actually have the same question as Clawpaw, but also one idea for the game itself, if no one have already gave this idea before. In a game, any game, realism is my first priority, but I understand people who get too attached to their individual characters and wouldn't want them to die. My idea is.. Dying of injury, infection, etc, is fine because everyone's been warned to be careful when hunting and doing potentially dangerous stuff. But how about old age.. I think there should be a "Game Options" where you will just allow the wolf to die of old age, or stay alive forever. I highly doubt anyone would make their wolves live forever anyway, but just so they have that option makes them more comfortable and not too afraid that their wolf can just randomly die of old age.
Also just came to my kind that, for the wolves to die of injury, they should be hurt at least three times? I don't know, i have too many ideas sometimes. xD
If you look for what you cannot see. There, you'll find happiness

Oh wow this somewhat old thread conjured a question for me XD
I probably already posted on this but now I have more to say.
I like how death does not really happen. Take my character Red for example. In RP, eventually, yes, she will die/something will kill her. But she is my main character! Even when she "dies," I won't spend every single minute on Primitive Call roleplaying. I'll want to goof off with people and overall have fun playing, and I want to be able to do that with Red, even after she has died in roleplay.
But I have a question, again, I'll use Red as an example. Let's say she was killed by a bear or cougar somehow and did the fainting/death animation. She will stay there for a certain amount of time, correct? Well if another wolf was RPing with me and grieving, would she still stay in that position/would I be able to keep her in that position as long as I desired or would she get up in the middle of everything? o-o
(Awkward/hilarious moment, but nonetheless, it would make RP odd and kinda damage the mood >u<)
It might be better if, after a timer was removed, I could wait until I pressed a button/moved the cursor a certain way/used the arrows or ASWD to make her resume activity o3o
ιn a coaт oғ gold or a coaт oғ red тнe lιon ѕтιll вearѕ clawѕ and мιne are long and ѕнarp мy lord aѕ long and ѕнarp aѕ yoυrѕ
Just to add my thoughts on rp deaths, I see every rp as like a different world/dim. I have the main background story for my character - Keyyva, and then the rp starts. If Keyyva dies in the rp, then she died in that world/dim, not in other rps So she technically lives forever for me.
At least that is how I look at rp deaths.
And I highly doubt that your wolf will be able to die of old age in the game for the sake of what time frame is it measured in? How long does it take? And it is the players character, they decide when the character dies. I could be wrong, but i doubt that your wolf in game will just randomly die like that (Besides sickness and glitches )
And RedlightWolf, if you are rping with another player, they decide if they stay or leave. .
I also have two quick questions. Will pups grow up gradually in-game, or do you manually have to edit them in character creator? And will wolf characters die? I know in the Primitive Call thread Sisu said that wolves won't be able to die, but from what was explained here it sounds like they will be able to. Just a bit confused
You have to manually edit your growth. :> Wolves can not die, as in "-dies of old age, and character no longer exists-" or "-did not eat enough in a certain time, character dies and no longer exists-". HOWEVER, wolves can 'faint' or 'get knocked out' for an amount of time (we do not yet know how long this time will be exactly) if you get attacked by something or if you actually fight another wolf in a battle. There will be areas in the game that are 'predator free' so you can just hang out in those, but there will also be areas that are really dangerous! ^^
So in nutshell: characters will not die by just sitting around. Characters can get knocked out for an amount of time that is yet undecided, and after that it will get up being weak for a while, but in a way that is not really dying. :>
Howler I think that since canines are know to have mental-problems just like humans, and since it can not be really proven that wolves in the wild do not have mental illnesses like schizophrenia, I think it is okay! :> I also have one character that is mentally 'pretty unstable' in a way, but who still has really strong survivor instinct and is a normal wolf besides that. : D
It would depend on the amount of time she would be knocked out. If it`s a few min then you could just stay on your wolf and wait for her to get back up. If it gets into the hours or days, then your wolf would stay in the fainted position but when you leave the game, your character will disappear. [At least that is how I imagine it]
I'm glad i read this before i jumped into the forum. i enjoy semi-realistic or the occasional fantasy RP myself, but i also appreciate realistic roleplays and i don't see them as often these days. It would've been embarrassing to jump into a realistic rp with tribal face paint on my character ^-^ I'll keep realistic-ness in mind when i rp here.

I just have a question about markings, if "unrealistic" markings are forbidden then why do some staff members have some pretty uniquely designed characters? That just makes some things about the game unclear since this RP thing is supposedly connected to the game. Or by that, did you mean overboard unrealistic markings like pink fur with star patches(lol I don't know just an example)? O_o
Because the member who will join this team will have a huge part in the RP-related things in this forum. They will help me with threads that help to categorize the roleplays, and we are planning on a grand:
"OFFICIAL PMC FORUM RP CHARACTER/PLOT/SKILLS RATING SYSTEM" *sparkle* *sparkle*
... yes yes indeed we have great and big plans for the future. -nodding her head in agreeing way, while having her front legs crossed on top of her chest-
Awesome! ~waves little paws in the air all happy~ I can get better at RPing and better RPing is better Language Arts grades and better RPs in general! ~Whoop whoop ~
Local Howl- Question from staff: "What do you think is missing from animal games that are out in the world already? What do you crave most? " We want your opinions!
Lifeon: I prioritize proformance most when looking at anything, If I can find a way to simplify something than I will, that ranges from simulating other players as AI following your 'network ghost' to storing trees as only world coordinates

Lifeon: and have the phisical model be 1 of about 30 that teleport to different coordibates as you travel (super aggressive object pooling)

bean: that is really interesting, I've been interested in game design for a while, and I had no idea about any of that stuff
Jun 8, 2020 15:04:31 GMT -5
bean: actually I just started making one of my characters in blender, it's pretty fun
Jun 18, 2020 16:04:07 GMT -5
Lifeon: Hell yeah, blenders great
Jun 19, 2020 21:23:27 GMT -5
bean: If I want to eventually rig and animate him, is it better to model the inside of the mouth separately?
Jun 20, 2020 13:39:48 GMT -5
SpazzySpiritWolf: welp I lost my discord to 2FA. Can someone send me the linky so I can rejoin again
Jun 21, 2020 1:31:05 GMT -5
Lifeon: Yes, making the inside of the mouth, teeth etc all separate objects will make rigging way faster, you can combine them to 1 object after if you want. Setting different sections to different materials in the same object also works nicely
Jun 21, 2020 3:20:10 GMT -5
bean: oh okay, good to know. I guess the same goes for the eyes then
Jun 21, 2020 11:34:26 GMT -5
Lifeon: yuppp, any overlapping part of the model is better as a separate object or material for rigging
Jun 22, 2020 21:43:54 GMT -5
bean: well I sculpted on it before it was done, which messed the whole thing up :') so I have to start over
Jul 7, 2020 14:24:06 GMT -5
Lifeon: My patience for unity is tested often and exhaustively, send help, but for anyone who hasn't already you should consider joining the fan discord, I do have some goodies planned for people in there
