Hello everyone
Lifeon here with some statements and changes regarding the forum, that will affect many of you. Please read the whole thread, thank you.
Recently, there has been a lot of building tension, and it has baffled us because none of it is caused by negative activities, but rather, competition in positive activities. This is an individualized problem, it is observed to be happening on a very broad scale in the community. As you can imagine, this is troubling to witness, and we have reached some decisions on how to work to calming things down again.
The first change we have made affects everyone.
The cool down on giving or taking pack approval has been changed. Previously, you could give or take one point of pack approval to another member every 15 minutes. You will now have to wait a 24 hour cool down, between giving or taking pack approval. We notice a lot of people will spam Karma every day between their close friends, causing the person's pack approval to skyrocket without actually being earned, the cool down change, we hope, will make everyone a little more considerate of who they use their daily point on.]
The second change, will affect a large number of members but not everyone.
We will be removing all forum groups, and no longer have the ability to create them from today onward. The groups were created, as a way to pre-organize events which were likely to take place in game, give order to things of the future. The groups we had, were both very different. Something we should have expected happened instead, members wanted to join just for the title changes and it resulted in divisions of the community. Many people have shown interest in making their own group, but overall they have thus far proven a bad idea. Groups are not role plays, role plays are unaffected by this.
Lastly, a general statement.
A number of members have shown interest in becoming a staff member the past months, while we appreciate the support, we would like to remind everyone that at the current time we are not looking for staff. We encourage members to look elsewhere in the gaming community if they really want to get involved in game design. Some of the staff have agreed to post personal bios below, about how they got involved in game design, and their skills. We hope this can give people looking for a game to work on, some incite into it.
Some good places to start out are the WIP games around in our gaming community. Feral Heart's subboard "Other Games" is helpful.
The Keeping Impressive Title Open server community is also a great place to start to gain experience; kitopen.com
Game design is not easy, takes years of work and dedication, we collectively feel like people underestimate the amount of work creating a game takes. Please do your research, otherwise you risk wasting someone's time, and disappointing yourself. And that is the last thing we wish upon you.
