I actually plan on getting this published. OF COURSE, this isn't nearly done. I've had to type on here because my laptop doesn't have Microsoft Word, and I don't want to use word pad. Anyway, this will probably start out like an rp. I will use many of my characters that I have/will created/create. Be sure to check back in case I've updated! I'll try to on a daily. Enjoy!
LOOKING TO THE STARS
LOOKING TO THE STARS
(6/21/2015)
Orion peered below at the moonlit valley. His silver fur rippled in the breeze as he stood proudly atop a smaller peak. The stars blinked like a young lass; constant and beautifully. Orion admired the night, for it was stunning. The full moon resided behind him, therefore casting a detailed shadow beneath his broad, large figure. Raising his snout gently into the chilly atmosphere, he inhaled deeply. The smell of fresh summer grass, distant fading scents of thriving elk, pine needles and cedar limbs, the smell of sweet seasonal flowers crawled into his damp, velvety black nose. Before closing his gray sparkling eyes, he looked ahead of him into the dancing grasses and the far reflection of the moon settling within the babbling river. This was home.
But what was his home if he had not one to share it with? Orion was never the type to stay alone. He rather enjoyed the company of others, despite the fact that most were subordinates. He remembered that only few days before, he was intended to become king, or alpha of his wolf pack. Alike his father and his father before him, he would've been announced leader of a new era. But Orion had learned to accept that events and wishes wouldn't always come as expected.
Orion craned his neck into the sky and let aloud a handsome bellow; a longing note that would do its best to reach the eardrums of any individual in range. Ending his gloomy song, he sat on his haunches, curling his black and gray tail comfortably around the right side of his body. His erect ears stood tall and swiveled every which way before he'd again accepted that wishes wouldn't always come as expected. Orion glanced up towards the midnight sky, ears now flat against his head to rest. The reflection of the darkness engulfing such tiny lights glistened in his glossy eyes. Slowly, his lids grew heavy and without resistance, he shut them softly. Orion still laid awake, waiting and hoping throughout the night that he'd hear the distant cry of a lone wolf.
(6/22/2015)
Inevitably, the day had began to take its course. Orion's eyes flickered before shyly opening to the sight that was just as breathtaking as last night. The sun faced him, projecting golden light into his cesious colored eyes. Harshly adjusting to the morning, he pushed his nearly limp, sprawled out body into a confident standing position. He felt the nippy surface of the rock comfort the pads of his hefty, warn out paws. There he stood proudly, looking at nature's beauty.
Various pinks and purples began to flourish within the sky, meanwhile dim images of tiny diamonds began to fade. The scenery still had a blue hue to its picture, along with a rising thick fog that emerged from the damp grasses and river waters. This didn't impair Orion's visibility; he could see a group of stout elk grazing from afar. His ears perked as a petite vividly yellow bird shouted their graceful morning call. The tall grasses below were sprinkled with dewdrops that were illuminated by the sun's rays of light. Though this stunning scene was tugging for Orion to view more, Orion released a huff, causing a cloud of heated vapor to appear in front of him before he turned to leave the large stone.
Trotting through the lengthy grass that attempted to grasp his fur at no end, he scented that wolves had passed through the territory within the week. Despite the odds of another wolf returning his plead, Orion let aloud a call of company. Though deep his howl was, it seemed to crackle in the atmosphere, muffling other sounds that struggled to be the loudest in the valley.
He'd occasionally pause, his tail shooting high above as he investigated stronger aromas. Thoughts flooded his mind but he carefully pushed them aside to focus on his main needs; breakfast, quenching a magnifying need for water, and finding another bag of fur like himself. A swamp hare would surely suffice for a limited time, and the forever-flowing water was only a few fields ahead. He'd questioned which of the three would appear first, and within seconds he found his answer.
(6/23/2015)
"You called for me?" She questioned playfully. Her voice was gentle and smooth meanwhile complimented by a cunning tone. There she stood solidly at the untamed edges of the tree line. She, in Orion's eyes, was quite a sight. Her flawless white pelt glowed against the green backdrop, meanwhile petite black markings painted her slender face. It appeared as if she had black wings settled upon the corners of her bright gray eyes. As she flicked her tail sharply and continuously, Orion noticed dark gray fur dipped at the bottom of it.
"Maybe." Orion answered shortly, attempting to create the illusion of disinterest. A smile crawled between his lips; not only had he finally met another wolf, he'd met a confident, beautiful female at that. Orion maintained his alpha stance, waiting for the female's response. He didn't remove his gaze from her, nor did he dare to move. His tail was raised at a decent height, his ears as tall as the snow covered mountains. Orion's muscles stayed tensed and locked. He truly had the appearance of a well-trained leader.
"My name is Bellatrix; I know you were wondering." The she-wolf addressed flirtatiously, quickly followed by an innocent chortle. Something about this wolf intrigued Orion. Was it her beauty? Or her ability to blend innocence and wickedness? This didn't matter at the moment; what mattered was that Orion had found a wolf, but what was he to do next?
"You're right; that was going to be my next question. Beautiful name, might I add." Orion admitted meanwhile thinking of something to say next. He didn't enjoy the minor silence, and hoped that Bellatrix had enough spunk in her to keep things interesting.
"I heard your howls last night, and well, your most recent call. You might wanna practice that." Bellatrix informed through gritted teeth which quickly thawed into a sly smile. She stepped forward, the thick grass producing padding beneath her light paws. She stepped silently through the clovers until she was only a hare away from Orion's face.
"Well, Bellatrix, perhaps you could help me with that?" Orion suggested, walking past her white pelt meanwhile keeping his gaze settled on hers. Then, he began to walk off proudly. Is this what I am supposed to be doing? What am I doing? Will she follow me? I need her with me. I need someone with me. Orion thought carefully. Within seconds, he slowly stopped, looking back to see her planted with her brows raised.
"I won't be able to if you leave me. I don't just follow, you know. I am not a dog." Bellatrix affirmed. Her tail was hovering directly in a straight line. The slightest hint of attitude had jumped into her tone. But she quickly softened, trotting gracefully until she'd come to an equal distance with Orion's broad shoulders.
Orion hesitated before continuing further, allowing Bellatrix time to organize herself before she began to "trot contently beside" him. She was a spicy one, and Orion believed that she would make a fine alpha, if not a beta that was polished to perfection. She walked quietly behind him; Orion occasionally looked back, catching her admiring flashy butterflies and trees that seemed to reach for the heavens.
"Thirsty?" Orion asked before trotting towards the clear, gurgling water. Emerging from the towering weeds, Orion looked around carefully. In the distance, he could see a posse of Bison and a young rummaging coyote. Stepping forward once more, he felt the slickness of the stones beneath the pads of his paws. His nails clicked against their surface. His mouth began to fill with saliva at the noise of moving water. Dipping his head low, his pink tongue fell from between his jaws and began to lap up the cool liquid. Looking to his left, he heard the delicate sounds of Bellatrix taking her turn.
Her gray eyes glistened as she and Orion made eye contact. Quenched his thirst was, he sat comfortably alongside the bank waiting for the new wolf to end her actions. The afternoon's hot rays had began to seep into Orion's fur causing him to heave vigorously. Ready she was or not, he was leaving to find vast shade and a decent territory to close his eyes until the sky had begun to dusk.
(6/25/2015)
Despite forcing Orion to acknowledge her unwillingness to follow, she kept up behind him at a great pace. Silence hovered between them, but that made nothing awkward. Orion wasn't in much of a mood to chat, not until he'd found a comfortable place to shut his eyes.
Without searching long, Bellatrix had spotted a comfortable area just beneath a thicket of trees. The heated light from the sun only penetrated through sporadic areas within the gathering of young trees. Although their shaggy branches began low to the ground, it offered a small opening beneath their limbs; perfect for a sleeping spot.
"Over there!" Bellatrix pointed out the resting area. Catching Orion's attention with her sharp tone, his head swiveled speedily towards the direction she'd called upon. He was unsure as to what she'd shouted about.
"I see nothing?" Orion raised his brows. Looking around, his nerves began to pile onto one another, and his muscles tensed by the second. His tail raised, his body ready for any physical obstacle that the world could throw at him.
"The thicket, it'd be a great place to sleep." She announced uneasily, noticing Orion's razor-edged actions.
"I'd prefer you not to state something so little with such a big, alerting voice." Orion scolded meanwhile enjoying the relief of his muscles contracting. He sighed, looking over in the direction of the decent thicket. "You're right, it'd be a wonderful place to rest." Orion approved plainly and tiredly.
Orion slid without grace beneath the thick, intertwining limbs of various trees. Crawling upon his stomach, he inched further until reaching an area high enough for him to stand comfortably onto all fours. Within seconds, Bellatrix was by his side shaking her white coat harshly.
Without a word Orion purposely collapsed onto the ground, sprawling out rather than curling up in order to rid himself of heat. He watched as Bellatrix neatly laid herself onto the floor of the thicket. She curled unlike him, allowing her gray tipped tail to float above and land soundlessly on her black nose.
"What should I say? This all has been too quiet for too long. I wonder what she's thinking about. She probably thinks I'm weird. Maybe I should say something to spice things up a bit? Okay, here we go..." Orion thought before speaking, "Thank you for finding this. I would've been searching for hours." Orion snorted, attempting to show credit towards Bellatrix.
"You're welcome." She murmured from beneath her tail. At this short statement, all fell silent once more.
"So..." Orion stumbled within his mind to find words. "What were you doing whenever I ran into you?" he glanced at her compact body before closing his eyes, awaiting a response. To his surprise he'd quickly began to cool below the treetops, he felt exhaustion pulling at his conscious, grabbing at his eyelids.
"Wandering. That's what us loners do." Bellatrix answered; the tone in her velvet like voice began to grow languid. With every breath it was as if slumber had began to constrict.
"Loners? I was barely beforehand, and now that you've tagged along with me; I do not agree that we're loners." Orion shifted his head in search of a more comfortable position to plant it. Bellatrix glared at Orion before closing her eyes once more. She sought no need of replying; it'd be a waste of energy.
Tranquility had settled within their bodies moments before obnoxious noises had begun to echo throughout the valley and directly into Orion's ears. Launching upward from his comfortable position, his slick groomed fur now had a damaged, wild appearance along with droopy eyes. Without hesitation, Orion leaped from beneath the tree limbs and steadily stood, attempting to pinpoint the direction in which all of the disturbance was coming from. It screeched into the air alike a young fawn being slaughtered.
"What is it? Where is it coming from?" Bellatrix asked, having a similar reaction. The noises grew larger, along with a high pitched cry that resembled pain. This unpleasant noise forced Bellatrix to cringe, meanwhile Orion stood unaffected.
"Whatever it is, it isn't going to make it much longer. I want to watch the show. I think it's coming from this way." Orion bounded forward. Though he'd understood Bellatrix wouldn't just follow, it didn't seem to bother him. Nor did her words mean much according to that subject since she'd willingly paced behind him. Pausing to get a better sense of direction, he lifted his wiggling damp nose into the cooling air. Determining where the uproar was located, again Orion chased after it. Arriving silently to the scene, Bellatrix and Orion carefully dove around the tree line. They'd found their culprit, they'd found the obnoxious noise. Hesitation caused by amazement, they studied what exactly was taking place before their eyes. This had begun to form a knot even in Orion's stomach as he continued to observe.
(6/30/2015)
A trio of wolves began to attempt slaughter onto one another. One wolf that, from a distance, looked smaller than the other two stood idly beside while two other wolves took their turns introducing pain into the flesh of their opponent. Orion wanted to sit, to watch the trauma unfold though he couldn't. He only stood while his eyes darted between the three. His tail as still as the trunk of a tree. It'd then became aware of what was happening. Orion noticed that only one of the wolves was being targeted, while the two attempted to destroy him; but without success.
A wolf of a decent size rose from the ground, his entire body covered in moisture probably from the slobbery jaws of the other two. Blood oozed from the sporadic cuts across his skin, painting his pelt a deep red. His coat, though wet, was bright orange. Black hairs flowed between the various fiery colors that decorated his coat. His eyes, still visible from a distance, teemed with a amalgam of fear, determination, a powerful soul. Although being nearly fought to death, he continued to fight for his life. His lips curled until nearly all of this teeth were visible before lunging at the wolf that was visibly more wet than its partner. Failure. The wolf had lunged, only to be slammed into the ground once more meanwhile the pair gripped his skin between their long sharp teeth and shook their heads.
"I can't watch this anymore." Orion's voice was cold and barely held stability.
"You can't just leave him to die!" Bellatrix had then began to panic alongside Orion's solid stance. "We have to help him!" She had then walked in front of Orion, nearly begging him to do something.
"I was already going to." Orion connected eyes with her before raising his lips and his tail. Bellatrix moved to the side so Orion could sprint viciously towards the group of fighting wolves. Moments after Bellatrix gathered her thoughts, she followed Orion's lead and actions as she too sprinted their way.
Orion's loud snarling and growling rumbled from between the walls of his throat and out into the field, echoing into the darkening forest. His paws kissed the ground only for a second before lifting into the air again. Though speed was not his strong trait, that certainly was not showing while he ran. Wind interwove between his hairs, causing them to unsteadily slick back as his body aerodynamically sliced into the air that roared in his ears. He could feel his blood boiling and his body numbing right before he leaped into the side of the angered wolf who'd been attacking the helpless one.
He felt his heavy body overpower the wolf's standing position, causing them to both roll over the bloodied lad and onto the unwelcoming ground. Orion heard the pitiful yelp of his opponent as it hit the soil. Grinning maliciously, spit dripped slowly from between his teeth. He then began to tare into the flesh of the wolf.
Bellatrix stood angrily in front of the wolf who'd done little harm. Her once beautiful, feminine face had the appearance of an angry puma or a bear who'd just been poked. Her opponent on the other hand looked more frightened than brave. Shifting uncomfortably, the uncooperative female shrunk in front of Bellatrix's intimidating impression and attempted to scurry off. Bellatrix refused to have it. She leaped onto the smaller frame of the useless female and made sure the pathetic use of a wolf was to stay and watch the show. Bellatrix did enjoy inflicting uninviting memories into another's mind.
"W-W-What're you going to do with me?" The small female cried, her voice unsteady and pleading.
"Nothing to you," Bellatrix chuckled, "To your friend. Once we destroy your fleabag over there, you're going to run back and tell your wasteful pack to be more aware of exactly what the hell they're doing." Bellatrix slammed the wolf's head into the dirt, closing any room for further conversation.
But what was his home if he had not one to share it with? Orion was never the type to stay alone. He rather enjoyed the company of others, despite the fact that most were subordinates.
