My method of .. doing this is probably not the most 'correct' one but I don't know any other way, sooo...

You open both files, Snarly wolves and Faces Profile in Photoshop. When opening them it should look like this:

You see the tabs in the upper corner.

Then you pick the crazy angry face, the group-folder for this face and make the rest invisible.

Now, look back at the tabs and pull one tab out, just drag and drop. Click on the Faces Profile.psd tab and just drag and drop it, so you have two separate tabs:

Then you click on the 'smug' group layer and drag and drop it into the other tab, Snarling wolves.

So it looks roughly like this:

Then make the 'smug' group layer invisible and focus on the Crazy Snarly wolf group layer. Open the group, click on Ebene 9, choose a darker grey and color the entire layer with it. After that, turn all the other layers invisible by 'un-ticking' the 'eyeboxes', so it looks like this, and you'll have the shadow effect:

(you could also play around with the layers and leave some of the lineart layers visible, if you wish to)

Make the 'smug' - group folder visible again and adjust its position so it fits into the corner (unless it was already placed in the corner when you moved it from the one tab to the other). Move the snarly angry face a bit forward and maybe play with the group folders opacity, I usually set the Snarly angry face group folder to 80% so it's not too... opaque, sort of.

So it looks like this:

If you don't know how to move layers, just press 'V' on your keyboard and it should be the shortcut of a tool whose name I don't know ovo Might be called 'moving-tool' or sth similar, it's the little cursor icon with the coordination system, in your tool bar it should come as the second icon.

And.. yeah, that's it ouo I guess

I was trying to post this 3 times today;
it took three times, not because my internet wouldn't let me or the site was bugging, but because I kept forgetting it. Silly me. >->

Anyway, you asked for fur? You're getting fur.

The steps to achieve this:
#1 the base. First you need the basic fur color of your animal. In this case, they're some brownish grey tones. You draw that and blend it well.

#2 you pick the darker color, so in this case the color at the top of the base, and start laying down the fur direction. As you can see, the strokes don't have to be clearly visible, but at least give you an idea on how the general direction is going to look like. That's the main point of this step.

#3 You pick a slightly darker color than the previous one you used and start going into depth with it. This means, everywhere where fur is "crossing" , or rather overlaying fur strands meeting, there are slight shadows which you should point out with the darker color you're using. This way, you're defining the fur more. You're basically outlining and marking the shadows. (If you want a more cartoony look, outline all the fur strands and not just the shadows)

#4 again pick a slightly darker color. Add more shadows into the darker areas, do what feels natural.

#5 Again, pick a darker color, but this time a bit more grey and add them in the darkest areas of your fur. Only there where you're really certain that there's not much light going to hit it. You actually draw very little in this step compared to the previous once. Just spicing the shadows up a bit.

#6 I pick a brighter color than the brightest in my picture and start highlighting the already brighter area. So the actual fur strands and not the shadows surrounding them. This time, I'm more flexible with the color choice, which means that I change the color throughout the process, sometimes brighter and sometimes a bit darker (but not as dark as any shadow, always brighter than that). This step is not absolutely necessary in case you don't wish to enhance contrast, or the shadows you've drawn prior are already dark enough to make the bright areas pop out.

Also, I'm not consistent with my brush size, especially in the last step. Sometimes I make it thicker or thinner depending on what I need;
usually in the brighter areas I pick a really thin brush and then a really bright color and add some quick strands to it. That's only a small detail but it adds a lot to it.

– there's not much else to it. <: I'm not sure if this is helpful at all. All these steps are of course flexible, depending on your color choice or... how dark you already painted some parts and so on and so forth.
