Name: Warfang
Age: 4
Birth Date: April 25, 1997
Gender: Female
Species: Northwestern wolf, Garou
Height: 33 in. (~84 cm)
Weight: 112 lbs. (~51 kg)
Physical Description: On the larger end of average, she is powerfully built, with broad shoulders, thick limbs, and a wide chest. Her brows are thick, coupled with a fine, long muzzle, giving her an elegant, yet brutish appearance. The rims of her golden eyes are black, as well as her nose, pads, and claws, and two slightly larger-than-average ears rest atop her head. Her fur is thick and coarse, and she carries the mingled scent of dirt and pine sap. When she speaks, her voice is most often soft tones, however, should she feel the need to raise it, it is one that carries well.
Origin: Warfang is from a tabletop role-playing game called Werewolf: the Apocalypse. In order to understand a bit of what I'm about to tell you, you first need to know a bit about the game. Werewolf takes place in a modern setting, except everything is more gothic-punk, and any of the bad things that you normally hear on the news are magnified, and more common. The shrinking wild lands we have in real life are even smaller in Werewolf. In this world, there are werewolves, who call themselves Garou. Collectively among themselves, they are known as the Garou Nation, which is comprised of thirteen tribes; the Black Furies, Bone Gnawers, Children of Gaia, Fiana, Get of Fenris, Glass Walkers, Red Talons, Silver Fangs, Shadow Lords, Silent Striders, Stargazers, Uktena, and Wendigo.
Lycanthropy in this world is partially genetic, partially spiritual, and lycanthropes come in three different breeds; Homid, Metis, and Lupus. Homids are human-born Garou, Metis are the result of werewolf on werewolf pairings, and Lupus are wolf-born Garou. Warfang is a Red Talon, which is a tribe of all-Lupus Garou, whose center concept is basically their hatred for humans. Back before medieval era, all werewolves practiced what was known as the Impergium, in which they would cull human numbers to keep them from overpopulating. Eventually the werewolves mingled with the humans and became involved in their affairs, and gradually discontinued the practice. Even the Red Talons, who did so only because they followed the lead of the Silver Fangs, whom they viewed as the "alpha tribe," at least at first. Eventually, they grew distressed over the state of the world, which was becoming polluted and overpopulated with humans, and reinstated the Impergium in secret. In modern nights, they scarcely follow the dictates of the Silver Fangs, and their allegiance has begun to shift in favor of the Shadow Lords.
There are also five auspices, the moon phase under which the individual was born, which dictate the role a Garou will have within society. Ahrouns, those born under the full moon, are the warriors, Galliards, of the gibbous moon, are your artists, dancers, and, most specifically, your storytellers. Philodoxes, the half-moons, are judges and law-keepers. Theurges, of the crescent moon, are shamans/spiritual guides, and the Ragabash, those who are born under the new moon, are the ones who challenge tradition through trickery and question. She is an Ahroun, gifted in the art of battle, and a force to tangle with. Her temper is short, and she is more likely to fly into frenzies at even slight transgressions.
Backstory: Born to a pack in British Colombia, she had a relatively normal puphood. Her pack was documented from afar by researchers, who wanted to glean more insight into the nature of wild wolves. Hunters and trappers sought the pelts of her pack, causing her from a very young age to distrust humans. Plans for a building project were to encompass most of their territory, and so the researchers made aims to relocate the pack. When the day came, her pack was tranquilized from a helicopter and transported into a van. When she awoke, she underwent her First Change, killing the driver and passenger. After, a pack of Red Talons tracked her down, and welcomed her home.
In her new tribe, she has been indoctrinated to believe that all humans would do harm to wolves, and as such she should kill them if the opportunity ever presented itself. As her Rite of Passage, she and her assigned pack were tasked with bringing back a forgotten Gift from a spiritual realm known as Wolfhome. After facing countless threats, and working together as a team, she and her pack emerge victorious. Her pack told the tribe of her ferocity in battle, and how her fangs dealt brutally destructive blows that felled the mightiest of foes. And so, in honor of that, she was granted the name Warfang. Soon after, she is shipped away to join a pack gathering in the outskirts of Detroit, with the ceaseless goal of combating the Wyrm.
Personal Info: She lives by the mantra wolf heart, human mind, and considers herself a wolf first, and Garou second. Most of her reasoning comes from an instinctual standpoint. If she were asked for the "why's," she would likely not answer, as anyone who asks clearly doesn't have any instincts, otherwise they would know. If, however, she did answer, it would likely be an unhelpful "Because it is."
Naturally a realist, she takes each situation as it comes, and makes calculated observations where instinct fails. She is shrewd and clever, and working as an organized unit comes easily, as she readily recognizes non-verbal cues, and reacts accordingly. She is sure of herself and her opinions, and can sometimes be close-minded, especially to philosophies that contradict instinct.
Time means little to her. Whatever happened, happened "some time ago." If asked for clarification, she will say "before ____, but after ____." She likes things simple, and tends to use simple words, but that doesn't mean she can't understand complex concepts, or even use complex strategies.
She is a firm believer in law and structure, and those who deviate from it, especially in times of strife, are doombringers. A weak alpha does not have the power to maintain balance, and therefore should be usurped. In her mind, mercy is purely a human concept. Merciful prey would throw itself at the feet of the nearest predator. A merciful predator would starve to save the prey, and as such she believes that mercy has no place in the wild world.
In any given situation, she will size up others around her to attempt to gauge where she stands, and will challenge those who overstep their bounds. One, however, might find themselves attacked seemingly at random because something they said evoked some emotion from her "human-mind" that she did not understand at first. (Lust, jealousy, mercy, etc.) She is quick to accept strength, but equally quick to exploit true weakness. Dominance duels with her are rarely fatal, and afterwards she will consider the matter closed, and will expect others to do the same.
Wolf language isn't suited for deceit, and how she speaks and responds represents that. She is incredibly blunt, and will give her opinion in full, should anyone ask, but may refuse to answer questions that appear vague, or things she feels should be answerable by anyone who has any sort of instinct. Body language is a larger part of communicating than words, and she will read into one's posture more than what they say. When speaking she is concise, with no flowers or frills or sugar-coating. While not overly social, she isn't exactly the loner type either, and will hang around other packmates, if only to be part of the group. When one person is disjointed, she tends to shun, or otherwise ignore the individual, as she feels that there must be something wrong with them for not wishing to contribute to the whole. Any who earn her trust can expect fierce loyalty, and she has a soft spot for those close to her. She works hard, and expects everyone to pull their own weight.
Since she was taken in by the Red Talons, she has been shown the horrors that humans have wreaked on the world, and she views herself as earth's defender, and a staunch protector of wild places. Due to this, her worst fear is losing the fight to save those she is close to, and, ultimately, losing the fight to protect the earth from further destruction. At present, she intends to meet with this gathering pack, but overall would like to see the wilds restored. Whenever she is contained by a small man-made enclosure or restrained (via collars, harnesses, or similar), she risks frenzying.
In Other Media: In other games, Warfang becomes a simple wolf who retains her dislike of humans, however toned down from murderous, to strong dislike. Her backstory parallels until the point where the researchers attempt capture, instead detailing her leaving her pack to join or make another. During the time before her departure, humans have attempted to hunt or trap her pack, becoming the source for most of her dislike. Her temper is also toned down, due to the lack of Rage.
She has been made in Feral Heart, IMVU, Skyrim, and Wolf Quest.
