~Welcome to Vexi's Atelier!~
Hey everyone! So I know what you all are thinking, "What the frik is an 'atelier'?"
And y'know what I'll tell you since we're friends. An atelier is a workshop or a studio, generally used by an artist or designer of sorts. Well, hey! That's me! ^^
~Artwork~
So anyways, I won't actually be doing any work here but I did want to show off some of my artwork that I've made, to view my progress over the years and basically just because I can. I'll try to do them in order from newest to oldest. And in case you guys decide that you want to see more, you can check out my dA page but that's entirely up to you. ( vexiwolf.deviantart.com/ )
So without any further adieu, please continue downwards and enjoy!
{Spoiler}
> Kay, so what you're looking at here is one of my early pictures digitally. At the time I used MS paint and a mouse. I didn't know what 'tablets' were at the time, I'd never heard of them.
> This is my first, digital picture with a tablet of Vexi in her final form. I didn't know how to do backgrounds so I just used photos and attempted to make my floof here as realistic as possible.
It took me about two weeks just to get her finished.
> At this particular time I was dating this guy (who I'm still friends with) and I had made him a wolf character, Revlis. This was one of my early attempts at a background, and my first at water. :3
> So this was a gift art for a girl on dA. I still used a photo here, but I put it through a filter to match it with the style of the wolf.
> Now I'm really getting into backgrounds. I had just finished a BUTT load of research on how to make grass and other bg objects. I used a lot of copy/past methods at this time.
> I still wasn't very good at bg's so I still used photos and filters to get the effect I wanted. This was a request from another artist. She wanted this for the cover of a book she was writing.
> YAY~! It's Shoji! My early cat character, whose white markings could glow under the light of the moon. As you can see my feline anatomy is not fantastic here.
I didn't really start drawing other animals a LOT until much later.
> Meet Anita, the zombie rabbit. She is my 10th grade biology final. :3 The stitches are where we actually cut her and all that green stuff is the formaldehyde she was soaked in.
I was good at bunnies, because mainly at this time I was drawing a lot of chibi animals, and rabbits are pretty chibi-like on their own.
> Okay! Time for scary work! This here was a commission, and actually a big step in my art career and my first city scape.
Here I was really starting on lighting and how the different colors change other colors, Lol.
> This here was a picture that my school let me put into my yearbook of my whole class. Vexi, the grey dingo, and the cream wolf were all the 11th grade at the time.
The little brown one on my back and the big white one behind were tenth grade. And the black one was the senior of our school. I spent a good amount of time designing their characters.
This here was another big step for me, I was getting into backgrounds more and trying out a LOT of new lighting techniques, angles, and effects. I still used a bit of the copy/paste method.
> This here was a character I made for an rp group in FH and I attempted to recreate the markings that they had in-game.
I'm thinking about moving it here to PmC only because I put a lot of work into it and I'm not willing to let it all go to waste.
> This was a neat character that I came up with in school, he was a cross between wolf, bird, man, lizard, and deer.
I was originally going to have as a main character in Vexi's group that I was remaking and it flunked.
> This here was a project for school, I was going to make a digital portfolio (like I didn't already have one) and make a slideshow and pamphlet.
I only ended up drawing a couple of pictures for this and used previous photos.
> Wow big jump from that last one! Here I'm much more comfortable with my backgrounds, and I am also trying out a new animal... The reindeer.
It is actually incomplete, because they are both flying through the air and Vexi's wings are not out. C/P method present.
> So here was a picture I finished when I was feeling even more comfortable with my reindeer. Although looking back on it now, I can find a few anatomy errors.
But this was not my first snow scene, but it was a try at making a more blizzard-like effect.
> This here was a gift for my little god-sister. She wanted to put it on her birthday cards, and I had to do quite a bit of research to get the anatomy as close as I could to the real thing.
But the penguin in front is taking off his baby clothes and putting on a more mature outfit.
> On this one I was testing out my lighting techniques again, and it was also my first time doing choppy water.
> Meet Kappie, my new cat character. She is what you get when you mix a blotched cat with Shoji. I looked at all my characters and decided that I had too many black, white, and greyscale characters.
So I wanted some brown. Kappie is like shoji where her markings glow at night, but she can also control/light and it's density to lift things up and even turn invisible.
> HO-LY CRAP~!!! I damn-near killed myself with this picture. It took a week just to get the flower done, and an entire day to get everything else done and I was beat.
But this is another big jump in my techniques. I had learned some texturing skills on pencil and paper while at my Christian Worldview Conference, and decided to bring it back with me.
So I used the same method and mixed it with the smudge tool. Giving my whole photo a very realistic effect, which was totally unintentional! Hazzah~!
> This here is an owlette. I decided I wanted Vexi to have a pet--er companion. It can't talk but I think It's adorable. I wanted to sketch out something that was just plain cute and non-wolfy. So wah-lah~!
> This is an experiment. I wanted to try one of those paper cut-out styles, and I really like how it turned out. It's pretty simple all together, and that poppy was so much fun to draw~!
> So this is the first realistic picture I've done with Vexi and myself. Although I can say I am a bit chubbier than that. But there was a lot of learning here, and I surprised myself with how good the
rocks came out. I'll be posting a process video on YouTube for this one, but it will be a while until then, but I hope you all look forward to it~
> Hey all, So today is my character Vexi's 4th Birthday. And this picture is my gift to the floofie who
helped me be who I am today. I love you Vex~!
